What are Chakras and why are they important?

Chakra alignment plays a crucial role in the success of our life.

However, if your chakras are not aligned, the chances are that you will feel burnt out, have little motivation, and communication with others will require more energy.

We can remove our energetic internal system blockages through chakra alignment practices, therefore becoming more aligned in our lives.

Chakra alignment leads to better communication with others, an increased feeling of indomitable willpower, and clarity in life purpose.

Does this sound like something you would like to experience more of in your life?

Why is chakra alignment so important? Having an aligned energy center will promote positive cellular replacement which leads to a better homeostasis

Root Chakra– It is located at the base of your spine near tail bone. This chakra represents your overall security and power. It enables or blocks your from feeling calm, safe, grounded, and secure. Its element is Earth, Mother Gaia

Your earliest memories are stored here, including whether your basic needs (like proper nutrition, stable living environment, security, sensitivity, and love) were met.

It is represented by red, and it is commonly the first one to suffer a hit if anything goes wrong with the body’s systems. It governs areas such as – sexual organs, intestines, and kidneys.

If there is an imbalance in the root Chakra- Muladhara chakra you may experience fears, anxiety disorders, or nightmares.

When root Chakra Muladhara chakra is underactive, it means that you are feeling weak, tired, or unmotivated. Additionally, you can be feeling pain in your lower back or your legs. Being out of balance in your base chakra can also lead to feelings of restlessness since it constricts the flow of energy throughout the body. Its element is Earth, Mother Gaia

Foods to compliment this Chakra:

  • Eat Tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, red apples, peppers, pomegranates, and beets will help nourish the chakra that grounds us to the earth. This chakra gives us a sense of stability in the physical body. An imbalanced Root chakra might result in constipation, Crohn’s disease, cold fingers and toes, frequent urination, hypertension, kidney stones and impotence.

Sacral Chakra Located at the pelvic area, Sacral Chakra- Svadhistana chakra is associated with creativity, sensuality, pleasure, and emotions. Within the human body, this chakra impacts several organs and glands, including the lymphatic system, the bladder, pelvis, the large intestine, and the female reproductive organs, and it relates to our taste.

If you have a balanced sacral Chakra- Svadhistana chakra, you are comfortable with intimacy/sharing with others, have a healthy relationship with your sexuality, and thoroughly enjoy life’s pleasures. Also, you have a zest for life, are joyous, and actively explore your creativity.

Blockages of the sacral chakra are indicated by sexual inhibition mostly due to societal conditioning. Its element is water.

Foods to compliment this Chakra:

  • Eat oranges, apricots, peaches, mangoes, carrots, squash, pumpkin, and yams to boost your creative and sensual energies. Imbalanced sacral chakra might result in menstrual issues, bladder infections, lower abdomen pain, testicular issues, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Solar Plexus– It is located between the naval and the sternum. This one is referred to its handling of our self-esteem, self-confidence, and personal power. This is your universal life energy source for your body. A fully aligned Solar Plexus will help you feel strong, motivated, and powerful being that you are. Also, this deals with your Pancreas; regulates metabolism. The solar plexus chakra, also known as Solar plexus- Manipura chakra, relates to the color yellow and is symbolized by a lotus with 10 petals. This chakra is found in the upper abdomen, in your stomach area.

The chakra is known to supply nutritive yet subtle energy to most of the main organs of digestion and purification that include the pancreas, stomach, gall bladder, liver, spleen, lumbar vertebrae, adrenals, and the general digestive system.

Solar Plexus- Manipura chakra’s meaning relates to self-esteem, self-confidence, personal power, ego, clarity, self-worth, and creativity.

An imbalanced Solar Plexus- Manipura chakra will manifest as low self-esteem, a sense of powerlessness, and a lack of confidence. Its element is fire.

Foods to compliment this Chakra:

  • Eat bananas, yellow peppers, eggs, and pineapple increases the power center, an understanding of the self in the universe and all emotions. An imbalanced solar Plexus Chakra might result in poor digestion, liver or kidney issues, weight problems, ulcers, diabetes, and gallstones

Heart chakra It is in the center of your chest. This one represents the ability to give and receive love, compassion, expansion, empathy, and the ability to service for others. A closed Heart Chakra- Anahata chakra can give way to anger, jealousy, grief, fear of betrayal, and hatred toward yourself and others, particularly in the form of holding a grudge against someone or something.

Glands connected are the Heart, Thymus gland; regulates the immune system. Its element is air.                                      Foods to compliment this Chakra:

  • Eat kale, broccoli, avocados, cabbage, zucchini, chard, limes, parsley, basil, mung beans, arugula, green apples, kiwis, and spirulina

Throat chakra- Blue- It is located base of throat to the center of your eyes. This chakra works with self-expression and clear communicated. It is governed by your heart chakra. Organs connected are your Thyroid gland, regulates body temperature and metabolism. When your throat Chakra

Throat Chakra- Vishudha chakra is balanced you can express the truth and you can express your feelings and to speak for yourself.

When throat Chakra- Vishudha chakra is not balanced you may be afraid of success, feel non-assertive, or go the opposite way and be egotistical. Some physical symptoms may include blurred vision, blindness, headaches, and eyestrain.

Its element is either / sound vibrations

  Foods to compliment this Chakra:

  • Eat figs, blueberries, purple potatoes, and red cabbage.

Third Eye chakraIndigo Blue- Located in the center of your brain, which is the size of a tic tac and in a pine comb shape. The color is very mystical color that represents wisdom. Growth, intuition, clarity, stillness, and openness are the qualities that exist in a balanced Third Eye- Ajna chakra. Also, when in balance, you will feel completely in tune with the energetic and physical world.

If your Third Eye- Ajna chakra is overactive, you cannot trust your “gut feelings” and you may feel as if your intuition is off. Furthermore, you may begin to feel stuck and in an emotional rut, becoming closed off to new ideas.

Because of its ties to transcendence, the best approach to aligning Third Eye- Ajna chakra is chakra meditation.

Its element is light.

Foods to compliment this Chakra:

  • Eat purple grapes, plums, purple kale, eggplant, poppy seeds, and walnuts.

Crown chakra- Purple/Violet- Located above the top of your head just outside of your body. It radiates infinitely upward & outward connecting your divine self with source creation. Photobiomodulation

There are numerous examples of light induced photochemical reactions in biological systems. Our vision is based upon light interacting with photosensitive cells in our retinas called photoreceptors. When light is absorbed by these cells, a photochemical reaction occurs converting light energy into electrical signals that are transmitted to the visual processing centers of the brain. Vitamin D synthesis in our skin is another example of a photochemical reaction. When the ultraviolet B (UVB) wavelength in sunlight strikes our skin, it converts a universally present form of cholesterol, 7-dehydrocholesterol to vitamin D3.  The negative effects of the absence of light on the human body are also well known. Two examples include seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and lack of vitamin D production leading to rickets.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) is the term used to describe the mechanistic/scientific basis for this photonic specialty and photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) as the term for its therapeutic application. PBMT was first developed in the 1960s. During the early years, this emerging photonic application was plagued by a number of problems including inconsistent terminology. A number of terms were introduced such as Biostimulation, Cold/Cool Laser, Low Level laser therapy, Soft Laser and Low Power Laser Therapy. Based on recent consensus in the field, PBM and PBMT are now considered the terms of choice.  In 2015 thanks to the efforts of Dr. Praveen Arany, PBMT was added to the National Library of Medicine MeSH database as an entry term to the existing record of laser therapy, low-level. In summary, PBM and PBMT are accurate and specific terms for this effective and important therapeutic application of light.

Earth’s Magnetic Energy

Schuman Resonance

Have you ever been surprised at how quiet it is when the power goes out? We tune out the sounds of our electrical appliances buzzing and humming away, so when they’re all off at once, the sudden quiet seems jarring.

What if we told you that all that electrical “noise” is interfering with your ability to tune into the earth’s frequency—and that’s why you might feel anxious, hypersensitive, or simply unable to relax? It might sound kooky on the surface, but some people are making the argument that all the other frequencies we absorb, like Wi-Fi, microwaves, radio waves and Bluetooth broadcasts, inhibits our ability to tune in to the earth’s natural frequency. In turn, it inhibits our body’s ability to relax and heal itself.

The Schumann resonance

As early as 1899, Nikola Tesla discovered that our planet emits a frequency (just like the ones broadcasted from radio towers) of 8Hz. It wasn’t until 1953 that Dr. W.O. Schumann discovered that the earth does indeed emit specific pulsations at a frequency of 7.8Hz. This is now called “the Schumann resonance.”

The earth “behaves like a giant electrical circuit,” and is surrounded by an electromagnetic field that extends about 60 miles above the ground. This is where the frequency bounces around, and affects every object and living being on earth.

Next, you should know that our brains emit a frequency, too: 7.83Hz, or the average alpha frequency in electroencephalography. Researchers thought it was interesting that the brain and the earth’s frequency are the same—at least in a relaxed, normal state. Plus, they found that it was impossible to detect earth’s frequency when in a crowded city. Manmade signals like radio waves made it too hard to pick out the 7.8Hz pulsations. What could it all mean?

Digging deeper

Here’s where it gets interesting. Through the course of multiple experiments, researchers have discovered that screening out electromagnetic frequencies is actually detrimental to health: in one experiment, it seemed to cause migraines and emotional distress in otherwise healthy young people. Yet when they were once again exposed to the 7.83Hz frequency, their symptoms vanished. Keep in mind that they’re not scientifically proven, but many scientists believe that electromagnetic frequencies can affect our bodies and behavior. Further research is currently being conducted.

Tuning into the earth’s frequency

Although it’s not taken as scientific fact at this time, it doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch to believe that various frequencies may affect us in previously undiscovered ways. Proponents argue that this is why you feel so much better out in nature: your ability to sense the earth’s electromagnetic frequency isn’t inhibited by other frequencies from internet, television, radio and other signals.

So how do you tune into the earth’s frequency? The first is to simply get out in nature—preferably a place where you don’t get good cell phone signal. If you’re lucky enough to live near a natural park or preserve, take a drive out there. Turn off your electronics and see if you start feeling mentally or physically better. Granted, that could be a result of absorbing Vitamin D and breathing fresh air, too.

Not everyone has easy access to unfettered nature, however (and others might just want to avoid stumbling upon serial killers in the woods). If you’re more of the indoorsy type and prefer your nature curated, there are Schumann resonance generators widely available. They’re small, inexpensive box-like devices designed to emit 7.83Hz pulsations. Keeping one near you while you sleep or meditate will—supposedly—expose you to more of the earth’s natural frequency, which should have a calming effect on your body and brain.

Will it make a difference?

Are the Schumman resonance and the brain’s alpha waves really connected, or is it just coincidence? Do electromagnetic spikes in the earth’s ionosphere really trigger global anxiety and behavioral changes? The scientific jury is out on that one.

However, there is something to be said for getting away from devices, broadcasts, and other frequencies whenever possible. Like the surprising silence when your power goes out, we get used to tuning a lot of things out. Even if “tuning into the earth’s frequency” sounds a little too out-there for you, it’s worth trying. Who couldn’t afford to be happier and more relaxed?
